George E Ravenhall was a teacher of English and Writing at EQDemic School. His passion and enthusiasm for teaching and his students made him a popular teacher and colleague.
The George E Ravenhall Writing Competition
is open to all students from Years One to Nine.
The competition encourages imagination, innovation and creativity. Stories submitted must be an original piece of prose writing, no poetry or scripts. Entries must be the sole work of the student, not copied from other works and they must be typewritten.
Any entry not following these rules will be disqualified.
Entry is limited to one per student.
Categories and Themes
Years One to Two
No more than 500 words
Theme: Hero
Years Three to Four
No more than 500 words
Theme: Courage/Encourage
Years Five to Six
No more than 1000 words
Theme: Justice
Years Seven to Nine
No more than 1000 words
Theme: Betrayed
Judging
All entries received will be read by a judge.
A short list will be drawn from the entries and placed online.
Winners for each category will include the People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.
This is a creative writing competition and entries will be judged on the originality of the themes,
the development of the story and the quality of the writing.
Any entry exceeding the word limit will be disqualified.
